Like any teenager at school Max is just trying to get by. Though it seems the world, and especially school wasn't made for him, he has learnt to adapt, keep his head down and keep going. When a new student (Shilo) interrupts his daily struggle with his classmate and bully (Frankie), Max learns that he doesn't have to keep his head down anymore. Using the strengths of his neurodiverse mind, Max soon finds himself on the case of an unexpected mystery.
Celebrating the strengths as well as highlighting the challenges faced by autistic and neurodiverse children in a neurotypical world, Beyond The Max, is a fast paced and fun one shot comic partially based on writer and artists J.R. Turvey's own experience as a teenager who didn't know he was autistic.
All of the money made from the sale of Beyond The Max will be donated to Bristol Autism Support, a charity that helped J.R. on his journey of self discovery and in understanding his children's strengths and needs.
